Maiden's correct, let's not exaggerate China's military position. The US spends far more and has spent far more over the years on it's defense budget. In fact the US spends more than all other nations combined in this area, so let's not laugh him off.

China has a fast growing economy, but it's economy still doesn't truly rival that of the US and it may not for another ~25 years.

Btw the highest DoD estimate of China's annual defense budget pegs it at $90 billion, compared to the officially disclosed $420 billion for US defense.
