I've seen CAT scans of cokeheads and they look like swiss cheese. YES, it DOES dissolve your brain. Don't believe me, I don't care, I'm not the one doing it.
Sure, abuse of alcohol is detrimetal to your health. So is abuse of anything, but yes, alcohol is a drug that has deleterious sude effects.
But, drink a lot of booze, you puke. Do too much coke, you're FAR more likely to die. Yes, you can die of alcohol poisoning, but it's a lot easier to OD on coke.
Are you actually trying to make a case for the benign nature of recreational cocaine use?

Show me a study that suggests cocaine dissolves your brain.Nightshade wrote:I've seen CAT scans of cokeheads and they look like swiss cheese. YES, it DOES dissolve your brain. Don't believe me, I don't care, I'm not the one doing it.

It's easy to od on coke if you take a lethal dosage. Just like you can kill yourself by alcohol poisoning.
I'm I trying to make a case for recreational cocaine usage? I guess I am. Which is more dangerous, riding a motorcycle or taking cocaine? Want to take a guess how many people die riding motorcycles compared to cocaine related deaths in the USA?
Yes there are health problems related to cocaine usage and it's highly addictive but if used in moderation it ain't so bad. There is a stigma attached by society and I believe that has clouded your judgement on the matter.
So where did you see these CAT scans?
This first-ever direct finding of cocaine-induced damage to key cells in the human brain's dopamine "pleasure center" may help explain many aspects of cocaine addiction, and perhaps aid the development of anti-addiction drugs. It also could help scientists understand other disorders involving the same brain cells, including depression.
The results are the latest from research involving postmortem brain tissue samples from cocaine abusers and control subjects, performed at the University of Michigan Health System and the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. The paper will appear in the January issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry.
"This is the clearest evidence to date that the specific neurons cocaine interacts with don't like it and are disturbed by the drug's effects," says Karley Little, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry at the U-M Medical School and chief of the VAHS Affective Neuropharmacology Laboratory. "The questions we now face are: Are the cells dormant or damaged, is the effect reversible or permanent, and is it preventable?" that's a snippet from a 2003 study, http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/ ... 121302.php
note they haven't even figured out if cocaine kills brain cells yet...
sure they would have seen the swiss cheese in these post mortem studies no?

From Neurology, Vol 41, Issue 1 34-38.

Among the habitual cocaine abusers there was a positive correlation between the approximate duration of cocaine abuse and the calculated atrophy indices. The findings suggest that cerebral atrophy develops in chronic cocaine abusers, and the severity correlates with the duration of abuse.

Well PoofNSTFU, I'm not suggesting that it makes your brain turn to liquid and run out your ears, if that's what you're implying. And, the scans I saw were at the mental hospital where my mom used to work. Sorry, not everything is on the internet.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:actually, know what? i'm not even making a case so much for recreational cocaine use as I am taking issue with your original post which I find as ridiculous as I do your claims that cocaine 'dissolves' one's brain so it looks like 'swiss cheese'.
As I said, if you don't believe me, I don't care. You are the one that needs to justify your idiotic habit to yourself, so think of it however you wish.
Note that you'll not see me defending high-speed riding on the street, I won't. It's stupid. But, I enjoy it, so I engage in this dangerous habit, just like you do.

actually, in most cases, it's easier to spot a stoner than a coke head. Coke's really popular among a lot of the law school students here, I wonder if that's a national stereotype or just a coincidence. :angry fist: coke head lawyers :angry fist:MKJ wrote:cokeheads usually do look very healthy, indeed
And not everyone that does coke is a coke head. I know some people that claim they just do a small line because it helps them study. Would I ever do it again? No, I did one line last year just to try it and won't do it again, but not because it did anything bad to me. But what is a small line like once a week going to do in the long run?
