R.I.P. Steve, he will be missed. I liked him. The guy was just a happy spirit. One of the few. For a similar fate, watch Grizzly Man by Hertzog. Fantastic documentary.

First thing/news I saw on CNN today and as I wanted to know more about (stingray barb), in the images from Google he was already in half of them. Man, so now we know for sure that they weren't faked/arranged episodes. And 44YO is fucking too young.
Steve, there will never be another one like you. RIP

i guess this means that raw's brother moves up the wilderness nut food chain.
gotta appreciate the irony of a guy that spent 40 years wresling snakes and crocs being one of the 17 people ever killed by a ray.

They dedicated 15 minutes of last night's 30 minute news timeslot to him. Only time I've seen anyone get longer than that was Lady Di, who got the entire 30 minutes.

I tended to enjoy austin stevens programs more than irwins. But you don't see many austin stevens shows here in the states.

He should have been wearing sunblock, it would have shielded him from the harmful rays.

I'm a little weirded out. I was just telling the story of when I was swimming with sting rays on vacation to someone just the night before. I was swimming just under the surface about 4 or 5 feet above a ray with 6 to 7 foot wingspan in about 8 feet of water. I wonder if I have any pictures from that scanned...
