Hit problems

Post by JontomXire »

Hi.

I've been having hit/targetting problems. There was one classic moment when I had a bot running directly towards me with my crosshairs firmly in the centre of his chest and my finger hard on the trigger in fully automatic mode. I emptied an entire magazine into him this way and I don't think I scored a single hit, or at most only one or two. I wasn't moving (at distance in hard cover using sniper scope) so the crosshairs never wavered from his chest at all.

There have been a few other issues like this where I have fired fully automatic into an essentially stationary bot and barely hit him, or shot him in the head and had a chest wound reported, and once classically the other way around when the crosshairs was on the chest or leg and I blew his head off.

Supposedly they have redesigned the hit detection, and the QA team has said it is a lot better. People will be much happier with hit detection in the next release.

I really enjoy UT. Especially Streets 2 survival mode, or Superman B3 ctf, but my god...the hit detection reeked. And since I was an avid user of the HK69 I'd always hate it when I'd score a hit with it, but it wouldn't be an instant death or anything near it. I think it did about 20 damage, allowing the target to get well outside of the gigantic blast radius rather than being vaporized. I mean shit, man. If you hit someone cross map with an 50mm nade they deserve to die. : /

lol, what?
Ok, let me explain. When selecting to download a .pk3 map. In the bottom where it shows filetypes, windows xp will show it as zip type files. If you don't select All Filetypes, and rename the file .pk3 before saving it. It will save it as a mapname.zip, not mapname.pk3. Then if you just try to rename it, after downloading, it will look like mapname.pk3.zip.

It's kind of confusing, but if it's never happened to you, it doesn't matter. I have helped a number of people with this problem. It took me a while before I figured out wtf was going on. I would download a map, then try to join a server, and it would say I didn't have the map. It wasn't until I noticed the different icons for some maps, that I realized something was different.
that just means you have to turn off "hide extensions for known file types". also, some webservers offer renamed pk3s as zips.. prolly some mimetype thing

I have Urban Terror, and dont get me wrong, i enjoy it heaps, but i have some complaints:

- Every bot i add drops fps by 10
- Spawn locations aren't team specific on smaller maps
- The HK has been coined by my friends and me as the "Overpowered n00b rifle"
- I get irritated by the skin/model names (Jaguar, Penguin etc)

Actually, I was just informed that the bots still exist, but aren't available in the control panel. You just have to enable and add them by command line or in script.
