Dead Rising
Dead Rising
Finally finished it. Like all survival horror games, aiming is a pain in the arse and there's a bunch of wierd japanese conceits in there (including a white character who's obviously been mo-capped off a japanese woman and therefore has completely bizarro body language). Unlike all survival horror games apart from Silent Hill 2 (and, apparently, RE4 although I've never played it), it's absolutely fricking awesome:
- graphics are sharp as anything
- utterly silly plot
- insane numbers of zombies
- great sound design; surprisingly good voice acting
- humour is often very subtle, always spot on and very true-to-genre
- best control system of any survival horror game (not saying much I know)
- huge variety of things to do: if you don't enjoy stabbling a zombie with a rotavator, spinning it up and using its flailing limbs to knock down other zombies, you're dead inside
First truly next gen game for the 360

Re: Dead Rising
Ney, in the next-gen department, I'd say Tomb Raider Legend and NHL 07 hold the top honours.Geebs wrote:First truly next gen game for the 360

I played and finished Tomb Raider: Legends on a rental period, I wouldn't really pay $50 for it, but it was a worthy rental. The best part of it are the controls, which are great controls, especially over the failures of the other controls of Tomb Raider.

A lot of people complained about the PC controls, but the settings I'm using now are more effective than any old gamepad.Kills On Site wrote:I played and finished Tomb Raider: Legends on a rental period, I wouldn't really pay $50 for it, but it was a worthy rental.
