How Do I Make A Custom Character?

I have seen in game that people have custom characters; like a guy in a blue T-shirt and shorts with some sneakers rather then "Bones". Is there a way that I can make my own or download pre-made characters to use?

I think you're looking for two things here. The first one is the textures that wrap around the actually model. These are called skins. And the second one is complete new models.

Now there was a time when Polycount.com was the place to visit to get these but unfortunately they have gone through a revamp and even though according to the site the stuff is still there I can't get to any of it.

The only two places (without being skin-artist specific) I know of now sadly are:-

Yeah it worked fine, but when I join a game it goes to a defult character, why wont it us my custom character?

Because you can only use models the server also has when playing online. If you're talking about playing offline, try setting sv_pure to zero.

Well that explaines it. Is there a way I can check to see what models a server has?
