NO. "Resident Assistant" more like a dorm micro manager, so the actual college staff doesn’t have to listen to all the whiny ass students when a problem happens. Your cable doesn’t work, tell the RA, your water doesn’t run, tell the RA, you locked your self out of your room, tell the RA, you want to tear the head off your room mate, tell the RA, someone needs CPR go get the RA, etc, etc…

I went out to a bar for the Monday night game last night (Packer bar but there were still too many Eagle fans) and got pretty messed up. I completely forgot about my meeting this morning and slept through it.

I'm on a year probation + 40 hours of community service.
Oh well.

it won't be that bad, I can dick around with community service since it's Halloween, I'll just do stupid shit like help set up public haunted houses and the like. Probation I'm not too worred about - it only matters if I get caught. I rarely get caught - it won't happen again.

it's true. The vandalism charge they have on me is complete bull shit. To make a long story short, I found an unlocked room right next to mine and moved all my shit in so I could have a double bed, my own desk, beer pong table, and own sink and mirror without having to share with a room mate - although he is still a cool a guy, it's just better having your own room. The problem was, I didn't have a key to the room, i had to come in my old one (my room mate's) and go through the bathroom into mine. To make sure no one ever locked the bathroom door on my side by accident, I put a piece of duct tape up on the inside of the door - just enough to cover the dead bolt - only an inch by inch max. (Tiny piece of tape just covering the deadbolt which peeled easily of).

The wrote me up for vandalism because of that.

unfortunately, I lost my opportunity to fight it informally because I didn't show up to the meeting. I could fight it formally, but I'd lose in a formal setting when I'm trying to appeal to a group of people.

I'd lose because vandalism in university terms is any modification of university property that I don't have rights to. I.E. Really fucking broad and doesn't specify how pointless or not harmful it is. Just ANY modification.

In other words, I can type up my door all I want, but since that door wasn't mine, I get written up for vandalism. Regardless if it's just a tiny piece of tape covering the dead bolt that's easily peeled off.

What I'm pissed off about is why the university would even know about it. To give you an idea of how much my RA's hate me, they wrote in their report vandalism because of that - a 1 inch piece of duct tape on the inside of the door. Who the fuck does that because of a tiny piece of tape?

Do I sound bitter yet? The whole write-up was bullshit.

The RA's weren't even on duty. They weren't scheduled to be at all that night. Basically my RA was hanging out with a friend who's another RA and they had nothing better to do. How do I know this? I was the third write up they got that night, they were gloating about as they were writing their report - think some bratty ass black girls smirking and saying shit like "Damn, you're our third tonight and we're not even on duty!" the whole time. They seriously think it's fun to go around and try to write people up - even when they're not on duty. Fucking losers.

Also, we don't have quiet hours until 11:00. Meaning you can be as loud as you want until then and you can't get a formal complaint. Like before then your neighbor can come by and ask you to be quiet to just do him/her a favor so they can sleep or whatever. Past 11:00 if your neighbor wants to be a bitch about it and not confront you, they can call the RA and have the RA do it for them. RA's won't take calls before 11:00 though.

These RA's come by my room at 10:30 because of music ON A FRIDAY NIGHT - read no one has school the next day - no one would complain - it's before quiet hours anyway, no one can. They search my shit and brag about how they already broke up 2 others.

Two RA's, have Friday night off, we're in Las Vegas 2-3 miles from the strip, write people up for the fun of it. My room is all the way down at the end of hall literally right next to the fire escape. She is on the completely opposite side right next to the stairs and elevators. There is no way she could have heard my music from her room. They were looking to write me up.

And really, noone here cares or thinks youre cool because you come here and try to brag about how much you drink or go to the bars.
