That's great engineering, actually. It could only be better if the USB port was on the front of the mouse.

I just got all these WD MyBooks and my ports are full. I could use an extra for my 8GB thumbdrive.

You guys don't rest your wrist just behind the mouse? You move the mouse and out pops the peripheral your hand is sitting on. Not to mention how uncomfortable it would be.

i have long fingers which means theres quite some air between the back of the mouse and my wrist.

also, its not supposed to be in there 24/7 im sure. its just a handy place where you can quickly fit in your usb stick or cam or whatever to transfer files.

I'm with you, bitWISE... that looks like a stupid idea.

On the other hand, how feasible is it to make a mouse with a built-in jump drive? Then, you could just use the mouse to copy a file and transfer it to another computer.

I realize that the size of the mouse makes it inconvenient to carry around, but just for transferring between two nearby computers, perhaps it would work?

Wireless notebook mouse with 4gb microdrive storage...that's a wicked idea. Although USB 2.0 would be better for larger files.

lol, was thinking the same.

Apple buggered up their keyboards, at least for me, with the G5 (white) ones which have the USB ports on the back edge. Not great when space is at a premium or if you have a dongle (iLok or Logic Pro auth key for example). The Pro keyboards (silver, full size, usb ports on the sides of the top edge) are much better.

lol, like you have the ability to judge great engineering. Ergonomically it's complete shit, and there's nothing great about adding a USB port to a mouse.

And were you actually trying to brag about the size of your thumb drive? :olo: You micropenised fuckwit. :olo:

Load of crap.

There'll be a lot of those in pristine condition sitting in the bottom of drawers in a few years time. I say a lot because I imagine quite a few idiots will buy them regardless.

For ultimate usefulness it should also be a ball mouse.

With more than one scroll wheel and wireless that requires ~4 AA batteries.

Oh, and I agree it's a shit design.

Nearly every peripheral for a PC can be bought with a USB hub in it these days. If they wanted to make a cool gadget-mouse, why not actually make the mouse itself have a 1gb flash drive built into it? Now that would actually be useful.
