Map Release - Lava Tomb Redux (High Octane Edition)

Post by dmschaos »

It's been a very long times since I've posted here, in fact I lost my login information, so I created this account.

Anyway, good to see this place still going. I figured since it is still active, I'd post my map release here, I hope some people get some enjoyment out of it.

This is a remake of q2dm6 (Lava Tomb) with some changes from my original remake. If you remember Lava Tomb, you know it had a lot of traps and secrets and, well..lots of Lava! This High Octane version removes most of that, adds a lot of jump pads, makes many item placement changes and even adds some new paths to speed up gameplay. In short, it's a faster playing map then the original "pure" remake I originally worked on.

With all that out of the way, how about a download link?

DOWNLOAD HERE!

This map has bot support and they play it fairly well. It took a lot of work to get them to roam the entire map, but they do get every weapon and powerup through the map. You can find it in the skirmish menu with the bots I intended the map to play with.

Enjoy!

Hey that looks cool. Burial grounds eh? I used to play there from time to time but it seems lately (last year or so) the interest in playing on that server has all but vanished for whatever reason. It was one of the better (if not the only one) servers to host custom maps. It'd be nice to get a little testing of your map on that server, me thinks? :p

Heya dzjeep,
Yah, the server kind of died for a bit. WIth all the new games that have come out the last few years, people kind of drifted off for awhile. There seems to be a little renewed interest, so we're hoping to get the servers busy again.

We currently have 2 OSP servers running custom maps
East Coast 72.71.206.239:27960

West Coast 64.246.50.147:27960

You will usually find me in the East Coast server...pop in and we can play the new map :)

I'm heading to the east coast server to play this map right now, if anyone is interested in joining.

thanks man! That was fun.

LOL! On the swamp thing! ha!

I callvoted the map back in, but you were already gone. Thanks again, hopefully we'll get more people in the next round!

BTW, if anyone plays this on a server, or even against bots, I'd like to see any demos people might do. Seeing as this is basically my first map, I'm all giddy to see other people play it. Please send me any if you have the time... dmschaos@burial-grounds.com

Here's a quick osp ca game we had a few days ago: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F0FIVKBW

It's not complete because the server kept booting everyone :icon32: (not your maps fault mind you, it was something with their server taking a dump with more than 16 players (and even at that, it dosen't always happen).
