I think its bloody obvious Cry Tech have gotten the "real life beach and island" look down to a T... These are just insane for a GAME...

Was just thinking that. Hard to properly compare when you're looking at 640x480 screens.

Some of those renders do look pretty close to their comparison images, though I agree with Doombrain that the shadows do look a bit too sharp in most cases. Larger screenshots would certainly do the comparisons more justice.

Water looks good but missing some obvious features like the fact that wave breaks do not happen down the entirety of a wave at the same time.

Shots of the houses and huts are off and the ones that look 'good' only look so because they simply take photos of those same huts and paste them onto the surfaces. Beyond the texture the structural detail is poor.

The shot of the dirt track between trees looks good except for the track itself, where the crappiness of the texture really shows through.

And DB's right about the shadows, they're always a dead giveaway. Just take a look at the coastal road shot and compare the palm leaves shadow on the road.

Game looks good, but for someone who only last week picked up on a lack of blending on some beach rocks in the LEM forum, you've got a blind spot for a lot of things in these shots.
