DCOM

Post by corpse »

I keep getting an error in event viewer under system aboiut DCOM not registering in the right amount of time or something. I was reading an article on the Internet about disabling it from the computer saying its not really needed.

Is this good advice...as in safe to disable?

if you are not behind a corp network that has a proxy or anything, then sure you are fine..

p.s. if something starts fuckin up, you know what you enable again to get it working :)

I guess more important is if getting this error in event viewer is anything to be concerned about. Is it safe to just ignore it and do nothing?

That would depend on the error. Post the full text of the error from the event log as well as it's event ID.

The server{F3A614DC-ABED-11D2-A441-00C04F795683} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Event ID 10010

Windows XP home, sp2 and all updates
Norton ANtivirus 2006
Adaware
spywareblaster
defender
Office
msn messenger
adobe reader version 7

These are all the programs running on the computer.
