pc equivalent to mac pro

Post by S@M »

does anyone know of an off the shelf pc that would beat these specs for less than 5K Aust dollars??

Mac Pro Quad
twin 3Ghz core duo,
4GB RAM,
23" display,
at least 500GB HD
256mg graphics cards.

Is this really possible in a ready to run PC? If so can you link me up pls?

Mac Book does not equal Mac Pro. There's no Quad Macbook.

Clarified cause I stared at this for a minute thinking 'wtf apple released a dual processor 23"-screen laptop?'

Get Two Xeon's, Get a nice Mobo, Add 4 gigs of ram, Toss in some HDD's ( rapters ) and Give er.. its not that hard.

in the end the only diffrence is the simple fact that you will not have a Mac tower to put it in ( unless you buy that as well )

I used to work for Apple, and MacPro's are.. well.. In my opinion, pointless. They are so pricey for a machine that at most is going to.. edit videos or something.

You can configure a similar setup from Dell, and the price will be comparable to the Mac. I doubt it will be under $5k for either of them, though.
