This game looks like shit.

Doom3 engine sucks for graphics, everything looks flat and fake, especially in outdoor environment, anyone agree?

the stuff in the movies looks fine, and nobody knows what d3 is like for outdoor environments yet.

that said,. this game needs to be the new id game everyone's been waiting for since q3 and a worthy successor to et. if it achieves either of those then it'll be fucking great. eye candy is secondary.

I wouldn't say that. It would depend more so on the artists rather than the engine itself. I've seen stuff on the Q3 engine that looked either stunning or terrible. The D3 engine isn't any different, lots of room work with. With the improvements being made in ET, it looks like it will be pretty nice. Need I remind everyone how many Q3W'ers are working at SD? They got the talent.

Certainly doesn't look as good as BF2142 but it's all about the gameplay. It's accompanied by nice graphics.

lol what ? you can't be serious, bf2142 doesnt even look closely as good as et:qw.
fog all over the map, nearly no light effects at all, cheap textures, and very little details.

hey, be fair. you try cynically rushing out a half-assed, ad-riddled shitcaked stutterfest overnight just to steal someone elses thunder and see how good yours looks :)

Maybe that's just the way it looks when you run it, or perhaps you've never even played it and have based that entire post on a single screenshot you may have caught a glimpse of on the internet.

Ya, D3 tech is a bit old, but this will hopefully run low to medium settings on machines that just can't handle things like UT2007, so people won't have to do crazy upgrades to actually play it at all.

I couldn't care less ho a game looks visually, I still play NES games, I care about if the game is good. From what I've seen this game will be. Battlefield lost me, I'm hoping ETQW will be able to sucessfully merge BF1942 and Q3.

ids next engine needs to be distinctly more flexible and robust than their current one.

They made such a big deal out of full dynamic lighting that everything else took a back seat, and in the end it came out not even looking very good in the lighting department.

They'll have massaged a lot out of it when QWars gets released, proving that it is occasionally possible to if not polish, then at least somewhat buff a turd.

id aren't going to have many customers for their next engine unless they pull a big fuckin rabbit out of the hat. UE3 is already being implemented and I don't have enough fingers to count the features that it totes that there's no mention of from id as yet. If the next engine is a duffer like the D3 one was, I think they'll be finished.

I don't think your computer will be able to run it. Your PSU is too crap. :p

It's not crap...it's just not working now :tear:

EDIT: Although I forgot to mention the CPU is clocked from 2.6 to 3.2 and the vid card is at 1800/550 :icon32:

That's an odd mix though, a Pentium D with an AGP? I would have guessed that most computers with a Pentium D installed, the mobo would have supported PCI-e.

Should run fine though maybe not at top quality.

I'm on a P4 3.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, 6800 Ultra and I don't expect to upgrade for at least another year.

that 6600GT won't get you very far though, regardless of the clock (atleast above 1024x768)

It's the video card that will really hit my wallet hard. The Asus P5NSLI is about $114.

eVGA GeForce 7950GT Xtreme, $313 at Tiger.

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... CatId=1826

2GB Corsair DDR2 RAM

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... CatId=2263

Cheaper if I just buy two of these:
