ps. the circle jerks were good in the 80s. They came to the local theater but it was something like a laughable $20. Any punk show for over $15 is a fucking rip off. Hell, I saw The Casualties, TSOL, and Agnostic Front all on the same night for only $12.

too bad casualties blow, jorge is a cock. Atleast Keith wouldn't act like a dick and allow bouncers to throw people out of the concert aswell as play at warped tour.

true, I could have, but steak, crab, and good beer is quite a few steps up over pizza/salad/ or burrito and malt liquour which is my usual dinner. I was pretty happy about it. And it wasn't a buffet.

eh, I don't follow the politics. The Casualties biggest strength live is how wild they get the crowd going. Speaking of dick punk band members. I was at a Tiger Army a show a few years ago and the bassist - I don't know his name, got in a fight with a heckler during the middle of the set. He starting fucking beating the guy with his microphone stand right to the head and when the crowd was able to yank it away after a few hits, he started windmilling the guy with the bow for his bass (he was playing a standing bass).

Alot of people don't follow it aswell (regarding the politics comment) to me, the Casualties just come off as some trendy new wave poser punk band, they all dress generic punk. Act generic punk, and play generic.. Speaking of mic smashing, the lead singer of Bad Brains smashed a skinhead's head with a mic too.

If you're in to the 80s hardcore, I got the Minor Threat DVD two or three years ago, if you have their major compilation CD...I forget what it's called, then there's no new music on the DVD but they have some really good live shows on there recorded in chronoligical order iirc. It's really cool to see the tapes from when they were playing sets right on the floor at parties in the middle of the crowd to see their last few shows on big stages with a much bigger crowd. It's worth adding to your Christmas list or trying to pick it up from Amazon if they have it.

I was in a good spot in California because I lived fourty five mins or so north of the Petaluma Phoenix Theatre. For a shitty run down place that was usually really cheap, a lot of big punk bands still came in and played.
I'm not into AFI, but their song "Days of the Phoenix" or whatever is about that theatre. Story has it that they were on the verge of breaking up and the show gave them a second wind, based a lot on our scene there it tends be pretty raw and gets kind of wild (or at least used to, I haven't been in two years)...something that even in punk is hard to come by these days. Also, if you're into the California scene, I just saw the US Bombs at the Dive Bar in Vegas a few weeks ago. Only I got there late and Duane Peters was fucked up as all hell and the rest of the band had already adandon him and only his guitarist was still there. He was standing in the middle of the floor, slurring everything, drinking while singing and usually trailing off before the songs were supposed to end. It was kind of depressing to see someone many refer to as a legend in the early California punk and skateboarding scene in that state, but to be honest I was also kind of glad I got to see it.

minor threat's pretty good, one of the big three, just got the complete discography. Shame they were only together for about 3 years...
