Interesting...
edit: I still hold my beleif that its unfair to compare and contrast this game especially as it just seems to have been ported to the PS3

Here's my take:
Wii looks about Call of Duty 1 quality
XBox360 looks the best
PS3 has pretty much the same texture quality as XBox360 but somehow it seems a bit flat, as if the brightness is cranked up far too high.
edit:
but to be honest, CoD3 isn't the best looking XBox360 or PS3 game available by far

I'm actually a little miffed at Nintendo for launching the Wii at the price it did, we know they're turning a profit at launch at the cost of their hardware the least they could do is reflect that in the launch cost (i.e. lower it by a good $50-$80USD. The Wii is probably no more than 2-3x as powerful as the Xbox (forcing myself to compare systems in this manner), that might even be generous in real world terms as developers don't seem as inclined to put the time in to make Wii games look their best (as was the case often enough with the GC). No real HD support, and even if they manage to slap on some means of upscaling it'll be a patchwork fix at best, for a system that's suppose to be with us until perhaps 2011 that's pretty fucking dumb (how many HD and HD-ready sets sit back home in Japanese households in 2006 already?).

Basically the XBox has much better contrast...at least within that game. In the other comparison shots with other games used the PS3 had better contrast.Eraser wrote: PS3 has pretty much the same texture quality as XBox360 but somehow it seems a bit flat, as if the brightness is cranked up far too high.
All in all...I'd say in terms of bang for the buck there is no reason to buy a PS3 over the XBox360.
Really? I noticed the same problem with other comparison shots as well (there was a racing game I saw and a video of marvel ultimate alliance)GONNAFISTYA wrote:Basically the XBox has much better contrast...at least within that game. I find that the Wii was ment to be fun in a diffrent way then conventional consols and it did a great job of that IMO. it never was intended to be a big power house, so i dont really compare it to the PS3 or the 360. For example my girlfriend and I were playing Wii bolwing today and it was a absolute blast but she could give a fuck about how the textures look or anything like that. I just find the Wii plain more fun to have.
but as for the other two are concerned im am far from inpressed with the PS3 and i think the 360 is a awsome system with awsome games and has great online community and i need to buy one now.

True, but I agree somewhat with MQ. I was hoping for a $199 pricepoint as well. I do think that $250 is good value for money but $199 would have really set it apart.
On the other hand, I don't know exactly how much Nintendo are making per console, but it's been Nintendo's history of making money on the console itself as well, which makes the business a far more certain venture than if you lose money per sold console (like Sony does right now, at about $200 per console)

Alas that money won't be used to make the console more competitive.Eraser wrote:True, but I agree somewhat with MQ. I was hoping for a $199 pricepoint as well. I do think that $250 is good value for money but $199 would have really set it apart.

For those harping about gameplay notice I wasn't knocking the Wii titles, just the Wii itself. Here's hoping they opt for rapid price reductions once they ramp up production, though I question what good that will do since the GC remained in third after doing just that. Solid titles are still being released on the Xbox even now a year after discontinuation, the same cannot be said for the GC it appears.

I just read an article that said, Yes, the PS3 is ridiculously expensive, BUT:
- PS3's graphics will be better than the 360's as soon as developers had more time to fiddle with it
- PS3 has more titles coming up
- PS3's titles are going to be a lot more diverse than the 360's
- PS3 does Blue-Ray out of the box
- PS3 put a lot more momentum behind the whole HD thing, something that will pay off eventually
At this point, the 360 can't 'lose' anymore, it's already firmly set in the market. But that doesn't mean the PS3 will fail.
(Thank God I don't like consoles in general)

Although those are valid points you have to remember that a system being bigger better and badder then another system wont make it succeed.SplishSplash wrote:

If you remember the Deamcast was WAY ahead of its time with its graphics and online play, add also that it had more then enough titles to be successful.
Yet it flopped faster then a fat nerd with sunstroke, granted this was sega we are talking about latly though Sony doesnt look like there doing much better IMO.
So far this generation microsoft has done a outstanding job with the 360. The 360s succees is somthing that Sony is going to have to more then overcome to succeed. That is somthing i dont personally see happening.

its easy to see what Splish is saying, i mean, look at some of the Launch Ps2 titles and etc, then take a look at the Current PS2 Games that are out.
the diffrence is unreal, they also did the same with PSX ( allthough not as much mind you.. ) So i would expect they would do the same with the PS3..
Thats just my Two cents though, i am a PC kinda guy, i stopped caring about consoles when i Fubared my Xbox 1.6
( for a good comparo, check out The FF's... you'll see what i am talking about )

I do see what you guys are getting at and i agree the potential is there im just saying the potential was there for Dreamcast and it basicly did not much.AmIdYfReAk wrote:its easy to see what Splish is saying, i mean, look at some of the Launch Ps2 titles and etc, then take a look at the Current PS2 Games that are out.

well but sega did one big mistake with the dreamcast... the advertising was totaly ridicolous (at least in europe) totaly stupid and saying nothing at all about the product.. as would you show a still life for an action movie...
as for the wii which is roughly as fast as an xbox 1 cod3 doesnt look so bad in motion, screenies look awfull, but considering its a "fuck you" ea port "lets cash some quick money" its ok...
i'll wait for metroid 3 to see what the wii is capable of on the gfx side of things.. a resident evil 4 like game with wii control would also be interesting.. anyway..
is there actualy any reason why this part of cod is not released for pc?

Like I said, the Wii is 2 or 3 times as powerful as the Xbox, but how often will developers put in that kind of effort for the Wii? They did some fine work on the PS2 when they wanted to....mac wrote:well but sega did one big mistake with the dreamcast... the advertising was totaly ridicolous (at least in europe) totaly stupid and saying nothing at all about the product.. as would you show a still life for an action movie...

The PC has seen better, frankly.is there actualy any reason why this part of cod is not released for pc?
I think Splish's points are a bit speculative.
The number of titles on PS3 will depend on the success of the console itself. I don't see why the PS3 would have more diverse games either.
While PS3 does have blu-ray out of the box, at this time, blu-ray nor HD-DVD are mainstream formats. There's barely (if anything) available on HD-DVD or blu-ray to begin with. For most people the blu-ray player simply won't be a selling point.
In Europe, HDTV is beginning to come up at this point. It's not big yet. I think the whole HDTV thing is overrated, especially when put up in a PS3 vs XBox360 argument.
Right now, XBox360 has proven it's worth and is succesful. It also has a lot of great games still in the pipeline. PS3 has yet to prove itself. While I don't think it'll fail, I do think that XBox360 will take the crown in Europe.

truth about the HD difference between de 360 and the ps3.
im replaying PoP TT now on PS2 and, I can tell you, its really fuzzy. thats something you dont notice until youve tasted the joy that is HD, im sure.
