Anyone here delt with a ipod batt?

Post by AmIdYfReAk »

i have a nano sitting here, and i am trying to figure out what is wrong with it.. i have a Pritty good feeling that its the Batt.

i have it all apart, and i want to Hook up a external PSU to it and see if it powers on. i know the thing takes 3.7V but i have a Black, Red, and white wire.

i assume the red is the +3.7, the back is the negative.. but what the hell is the white?

anyone know? or know where to look to find out?

does the thing work when you connect via usb?

if it does that would point to battery.

white would be for reading charge level.(i think)

Uhhh, i dont have the USB adapter.. :)

a dude jumped into a lake with this thing in his pocket.. he just gave me the pod, nothing else.

i wanted to Add a charge to the pod and see if its working..

But your money is on a charge sensor? hummm, i wonder if i can feed it 3.7V and if it will turn on.

Curious, how do you open the nano? Doesn't seem like any screws on the thing. Do you just pry it open or is there a less destructive way?

BTW, they sell replacement batteries for iPods online and even at Best Buy.

Tor: i pulled a batt from a nokia phone i had lyig naround ( 3.7V 480MAH ) and wired it in and she booted right up and played a song or two for me.. So i need to get a replacement batt.

Obsidian: you need to pry the metal off, its held in by like ~10 clips

here is a blurb on how its done:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... uage_tools

it was a bitch, but it did come off..

i have checked on e-bay and there are tons of batts going for $6... So i dont think bestbuy will beat that :) could allways try though!

i will post back with the resaults.

I was going to warn you to find a way to limit the current if using the PSU (via a series resistor), but it looks as though using the phone battery took care of that.
GG man.

thanks Night shade, i was thinking the same..

it would have taken me alot of math to max it out at 350MAH... rofl

anyway, i found a dude selling all kinds of parts in eastern ontario, i ordered a batt and a USB cable $20.. w00 :)

again, thanks for the help gents!
