i wasn't talking about 42" LCD HDTV's - more like around 30". and no, i wasn't necessarily talking about good tv's, was just making a pricing point.

it's not the cost of the players that will kill BR, it's the cost of producing the BD disks.

Its not related as such but its better than posting a new thread...

Just upgraded to the latest unoffical firmware on my PSP, now I can play PSone games using the offical Sony Emulator, only it loads them as ISO's... I.E. If i have the disk (or know where to get them) they play full speed, perfectly fine.

Fuck me, res evil, metal gear and Final fantasy 7 are ALL perfect! Its great!

If you read the article, you'd see that they are, the 3rd version will be sold for profit not at a loss, cause it won't have losses made up for by selling games, cause it won't be aimed at the games market.
Given that in the consumer electronics industry manufacturers do not subsidize hardware in hope to compensate their losses by selling many games, it is highly likely that the console, which currently costs $840 to manufacture, will be sold at a premium price. The Japanese web-site noted an executive at SCEI as saying that the price range could be from ¥200 to ¥300 thousand ($1680 to $2520).
I did read the article... I think you missed the point

Full guide and instructions:

You need 1.50 firmware or 2.71 SE. But its easy to downgrade to 1.50 (unless you ahve the latest firmware installed).

The best thing is that this custom firmware gives you all the great stuff about the latest offical FW (Browser, RSS, flash etc) but it also works like .150, meaning all your emulators/roms and homebrew work.

Just making sure I wasn't missing something - I'm still trying to catch back up on all the technology, since hopefully I'll be buying one in a couple months or so.

No. Maybe they can do 1080 but their native resolution is different so the picture quality wouldn't be so good when doing that resolution.
