CoH rocks! The way the tanks end up fighting each other is ridiculous (Stug IV and M4 Sherman trading shots at point blank range :dork: ), but the infantry combat is phenomenal.
Playing against the computer in skirmish mode is anal rape, however. :tear:

For some reason I just lost all interest in WWII games after the first 50 were released. The last WWII game I really enjoyed was RtCW.

Limited Elements...we kicked ass.

Yes. It's pretty good.

If you want me to nit pick here I go:

-the dungeons might get a bit stale
-it's a grind sometimes

Other than that, it's good.

Big bump here, but I'm back to finishing this game.

One thing that has been a bit interesting, something that I guess we take for granted in these games is that the developers researched the battles, locations, etc., for some historical accuracy. I didn't bother checking until now, but I'm fighting the Le Bourg St. Leonard fight and decided to look that information up. Interesting to read the military history of the fight - it brings up the "TO" symbol on the american uniforms in this battle, the help of the 1st armored division of the polish army, the capture of Mt.Ormel (which the game also refers to as the Mace, without telling you why...).
It makes the game feel a bit more compelling knowing that these are re-creations (as reasonable as you can claim to recreate a real battle in a video game) of actual fights, mimicking some of the tactics used, like the pincer tactic you use in this fight. Playing the game with the dolby digital surround cranked up makes the whizzing bullets and whatnot pretty cool.

Speaking of WW2 games, Hour of Victory apparently sucks balls.

And how much longer are people going to milk WW2 as a go-to FPS game?

Well, CoD stopped. The next game is "modern" combat, taking the finest marines deep into the Middle East :dork:

Or at least that's what the CoD4 trailer suggested.

I'm kind of with you there. This has become an interesting little bit of research I've done. In one of the in-game scenes, a nazi attacks you with a knife that has an engraving on it. The knife is an exact match, down to the engraving, of one of the Nazi knives my grandfather took during WW2. He has 6 different ones, with really ornate sheaths and different sayings engraved on them. I think one says Bloodlust. These were taken from the battlefield, as well as the Nazi luger (here's a pic, not of mine, but just like it)
Image

Every time I hold one of those knives I can't help but wonder how many, if any, people may have been stabbed and killed with it. Same goes for the gun.

The entire campaign I'm in right now, I've discovered, is all part of the Falaise Pocket attack that brought hell down on the Nazi's as they fled towards Chambois.

If people are looking for a way to get something out of an old game they've already played, taking some time to research the missions you are going on may make a tired old WW2 game like COD2 or COD3 a bit more interesting and maybe worth another go-round.

Or not.

They should do the next WWII game from another perspective instead of always making it an allies vs axis thing... maybe a la resistance sneak-around-and-blow-stuff-up type game, or something.
