dvd rom stopped

its an lg dvd burner - still plays cds but not dvds, drivers up to date, trojan etc all scanned for - its my brother machine, cables are all connected properly etc what could it be?

Possibly that the DVD player program was removed and hence would not play DVDs. Looking at all possbilities before you buy a new one.

I have always dealt with LG for burners and have always had good luck.
