Help me please!
Hi, I'm a new player on Quake III Arena Version 1.30. And I'm having trouble fighting Phobos on the First Tier on the hardness level of I Can Win!! I know, I'm pathetic. But can anyone give me advice on how to defeat him?!? If you can then I will be eternally grateful! PLEASE HELP ME! :icon30:
The dead walk among us swiftly...
Go online and watch an experienced player. When you join a server, hit "Esc" button then click on "join game" followed by spectate. Pick a player who is in the lead by clicking the left mouse button (you will cycle through the various players) and follow him. Just keep practicing with bots and find friendly maps to play with.
BTW - you have to download and install point release 1.32. Google it ("quake point release") and you will find a source.

edit: Let me elaborate. If you can't tell the difference between the skills of an actual human online player and a bot then you really haven't played enough good players online. There is a world of difference. Online play against real people is the absolute best way to improve your playing. You can play single player until you're blue in the face and it won't compare.
playing offline is a great way to learn the maps and get a feel of the weapons though.
a tip; whenever the Red Armor is there, pick it up, whether you need it or not. If yo have it, then he doesn't
Don't camp but just check often if it's there. Full armor makes a lot of difference when battling it out!

i mean, theres no campaign broader than playing a bot or two in a map that can just as easily be played in online. Im not referring to the actual gameplay or quality of the bots.Scourge wrote:Wrong.JB wrote:the single player gameplay of Quake yields no differences with online play for the most part.
