Radiant Trouble

Post by QueenSerenity »

i love quake and when i found out i could make levels for the arena i was over the moon, but... ive made a few that worked but theres 1 that the BSP command hates :(

im using XP Pro (sp1), 160gb hdd, 512 ram, 1.8 AMD, 5200 GeForce gfx card.

i get the error message that you normally get when a prog hasnt responded and you close it... (tell microsoft it doesnt work) and then it says its gonna close radiant (1.0 beta build 197) but it doesnt close... and my bsp file wont create... does anyone have any ideas as to why it wont do it?

ive tried changing all my textures to 1 standard texture and it doesnt make a difference, ive removed all my doors, and tried everything i can think of... *scratches head* im a tad confused as to why it doesnt like it, i get a few error messages in the bottom saying:

Error opening C:/PROGRA~1/QUAKEI~1/baseq3/maps/paininthearse.bsp: No such file or directory

Unknown surfaceparm: "nomipmaps"

completed.
Run time was 0 hours, 0 minutes and 44 seconds

it says its completed... but it doesnt make it! no i dont have any leaks.

That sounds like you're using a very old version the editor, QeRadiant (?). It's best to use one of the different flavours of GTKRadiant now becasue as that error points out, 'we' (mappers) use parameters in maps that the old compiler doesn't recognise (iirc)

Your actual map should be safe, all you're updating is the program itself which will import/open older maps (with a bit of tweaking).

Watch this for Spiral stairs and see if it helps speed things up. And/or read this
