1) Are people still playing the full version of this game regularly or is it dead?
2) Should I still be able to use the 1999 demo to create and connect to servers?
3) Anyone still playing demo version?
Hello everyone. I am just shocked to awe that people are still posting about this old game. I had the old demo from 1999 and just installed it for the heck of it. I actually liked it and had lots of fun with the bots. This is the demo version not the full version.
I try to join server and even create a server but I get that infamous cant connect to master server message. Just dloaded xfire and have that set up so I can use their game browser. But I really would like to play online some before I decide whether to order the full version. I already have enough dead games.
So if you could help out with the questions above...thank you much.

Ive never play a quake game before tonight.....
this forum is helping me immensely. already got a server cfg and an autoexec cfg and ports forwarded in router all because of reading this great forum.
But I have too many dead games already man. I cant buy any more dead ones which is why I want to try to get online in the multiplay first.
Dead games so far: pariah, starship troopers, serious sam, painkiller, gunman chronicles, ut2003, doom 3...all legit copies too

Ok i got the demo working with xfire so i could check out the game list of quake 3. the demo wont work or let me start a server that connects to master game server, but with tricking xfire into thinking the demo was the full version I could see about 75-80 players on tonight. That would be enough for me to buy the full version. Its a weeknight, but still even 75 players would mean the game's not totally dead. For 7 years old game, that decent.
