Loading Classic Version of Q3 onto OSX

Hi its been a long time since I've had the urge to play Q3. I no longer have classic on my mac but would like to play Q3. The problem is I can't install the old classic version (cause i don't have classic). Without having the original version on my machine the OSX port has nothing to port to (if you know what i mean)...Is there a way around this. When I go to install the computer tries to open os9 but there is nothing there...I'm running 10.3.8...I'd love to get back in the game but its a bit hard when the game won't install...thanks for help.

No. Folllow the instructions for installing the OS X version of Q3 listed in the Macintosh discussion FAQ: http://www.quake3world.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/004500.html?

Some of the content is outdated and there's no way to edit it currently, but the process for installing the latest version of Q3 on OS X is still accurate.

I followed step by step...all the steps appeared to work (screenshots were as they should be) however after the ID software logo came up all I got was a grey screen...I'm running 10.3.8 on a G4 20 inch Imac if that helps

there is a g4 optimised version is there not?

On one botched install I did, I got the white screen, but that was my poor job of allocating memory under os9. Have you got the latest vid drivers for your iMac?

I've tried both the installers the g4 one and the other one...arghh!! Its annoying I really want to play Q3 haven't played it in years...yeah I have the right video cards etc...played a bunch of games on it, MOH series, RTCW, Jedi Academy to name a few......

all you need to do is...

either delete your q3config file in the baseq3 folder OR

completely delete your non-working install, then...

1 run the os-x 1.32 patch (this will install the game
but without the pak0.pk3 file)
2 get the pak0.pk3 file from your q3 install disc & place it in the
baseq3 folder (which is inside the quake3 folder)
3 run the g4 app version & enter your cd key.
