quake3 gold purchase/setup questions--team arena worth it?

Post by sir_frags »

Ok, I like quake 3 alot and in spite of not actually being able to play online with anyone with the demo version, I know I want to get the game. The thing is I dloaded team arena and I liked that too, so I am looking at quake iii gold as the purchase.

QUESTIONS: So I need to know if Im gonna have connection/server problems with the full version of the game like I had with the demos? I need to know if I should even bother with team arena....are there servers up for it and am I not going to be able use the in-game server browser to connect to play?

I dont use a router and I tried the xfire thing, so I dont know why I have these problems with the demos. Quake 4 installed and its server browser ran just fine. But I dont care much for quake 4 :)

Thank you for any advice.

No, Yes, and You'll have to scan, and You Can..but, using the All Seeing Eye browser will work alot quicker than the in-game browser. You'll have to look around to find the link for ASE.

Hello dude. I was using xfire cause its free. I thought you had to pay for ase? No?

I asked if there were servers up for team arena...but I should have asked if there were players in them? :)

I like Kquery myself. I find its easy and simple. I still use ase for easy kicks and remote console. I play on and old point release and Kquery will split the points up.
Kqueary will also refresh the servers if you click on them. Ase seem to take awile to scan all the servers. But atleast they have all the servers. Even the ones that arnt reporting to the masters for one reason or another.
.X-fire is cool but its just too funky for me. Its two spaced out.
