Viruseater got in hot water...(old?)

Well, I didn't want to talk about it, but since you questioned what happened I'll tell you.
I HAD a monthly server that was paying for way back before I had a dedicated box. I shared a box with whatever site he had me with, but it wasn't too crowded. I paid a separate fee for a quake server, again on a box with some other servers.
There was some performance issues with the box hosting my website, so we decided it would all run smoother if I paid for my own dedicated box.
Virus said he would keep the quake server running if I wanted it as a part of the deal.

Well, there were many, many times where my server was fucking up, and the ratio of it being up compared to friends sites was pretty shitty.
Everytime I talked to him about it, he would complain that the server was getting "attacked." I smelled some serious bullshit in his voice when I would talk to him about it on the phone, but I didn't want the hassle so I kept it running.

He then really fucked over a friend of mine about some hosting, where he paid for it in advance and lost his server because VE didn't pay the bill. VE fucked him over and lied to him about the whole situation. I won't name the friend or the situation, and if he wants to post about he's free too, but this friend has been a good friend for many years and has always been straight with me. I believe him 100%.

I was talking to people and asking them how much they pay for webhosting because I was thinking about moving anyway.
Well, when I contacted my accountant to double check because everyone I know was telling me that I was getting ripped off for what I THOUGHT I was paying VE for shitty hosting, and she informed me that I was paying DOUBLE what I was quoted for my dedicated server.
He was billing me for TWO dedicated servers.
One for the website, and another for the Quake server, which incidentally hadn't been up in over a year.
He knew that I wasn't checking my bills, and he took advantage of it.
He fucked me over, plain and simple.
He was a great guy to have around to do shit for this messageboard and always kept it updated, but the bottom line is the guy is a fraud.
I don't think he's a horrible person, but I think in desperate times people will do desperate things, and I think he finds himself in desperate times quite often.

its funny how VE responds by saying how generous he was, and how he had no choice to shut down the servers, emailing every admin about the situation, while in fact we have Dek here claim the same thing, months before this "pack of lies" was spread around the innerweb ( :icon32: )

Eh so anyway, VE's a clown and at least some people appear to have been burned by him. Shame.

I think he's just one of those guys that's got so wrapped up in his own delusions of grandeur that aside from convincing other people he's convinced himself.

Whatever, I wish him luck. Just as long as whatever he's messing up isn't anywhere near me.

I agree with puff, VE was an arrogant prick. Not because we had words several times, but because he truely thought that he was better than everyone else here. He would constantly drone on about how much money he made and how valuable he was to this community, and everyone here just kissed his ass because he was providing a "free" Q3 sever. It was almost amazing how most people overlooked how self-absorbed he was. There were very few who gave him shit (me being one of them) because he was this supposed, "great guy".

Now his lies have been exposed. He's not the successful, rich entrepreneur that he's always boasted about being. He's a low life scumbag that rips people off on the internet.

I had a genuine smile on my face when I read that article. Too bad he's not here so I could laugh in his face.

Could just be for the sake of arguing.

The guy never did anything to me. If he showed up tomorrow, I would not speak/react to him any differently then I ever did; however, if I required the type of services that he provides, I would find someone else. I wouldn't want to take the risk.

wether Viruseater is a scam artist or just a bussiness man with a failed plan trying to keep it afloat has no bearing on me personally .. he's just someone i know on the intarnet.

I tend to believe Rogan about VE being a decent guy who got into some bad shit. Like VE or not, that guy gave us a lot of free server resources that probably cost him hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

I also think Dekard got dicked and I hope he gets his domain back or some form of settlement. It's something I would definitely sue over.
