Halo is overrated. The first game was an average FPS and didn't deserve the obsessive praise it got. I mean, really, what made it so awesome? The enemies were generic and there were few unique foes. There was no gimmick or anything to set it apart from other shooters.
I probably won't ever play the beta. I never played the second game, and only beat the first on the PC to see what all the hubub was about.

halo was a giant leap for console fps's, it also introduced co-op vehicles in an SP campaign. its backstory is enormous (although wooshes over the head of the general public), enemy AI was great for its time, and it opened up Live like no other (in case of H2).
it was released on peecee way too late, in a time where vehicles and AI were already surpassed and simply too common to enjoy. and without its strenghty co-op, there wasnt much left to go for

I played it a bit (though not the full thing) in the XBox as well, and didn't really see anything impressive then. It may be decent for its time, but certainly not in the league of other huge FPS games like it's been made out to be.MKJ wrote:theres your problem
