Vista

Post by corpse »

I just installed Vista Home Premium on one of my computers. Has anyone else here installed it yet.

One strange thing, during the setup before the installation starts it is different than other OSs. When I clicked to format my existing partition and then install, it just went......poof!....done and started installing. Like a quick format, but the option of a quick format was not given.

I think when you click the advanced button during the install window it will give you an option for a quick or normal format. But I haven't noticed either one going slow, they are both pretty speedy.

That is exactly what my post said. The format was so fast it was as if it never happened. It was faster than a quick format with XP. But I never got a quick format option so I assume it was a normal one.

Decided to wipe and do it again. There is no option for quick format or anything else. You get an option to delete partition, format. This is when you are asked to select a partition. If you click format, it hums for a half minute and then it is ready to go. This is like a quick format.

The first time, I selected delete partition, and then format. This time I did the other way arouind.

With XP and other OSs I dont think you can delete an active partition, but with Vista you can.
