NEC 3500a or something close to that (they change the model # by ten or so every so often).

Ive got a Lite-on 16x +- drive.. never gave me any problems..
*shrugs*
hell i always buy lite-on drives.. they just last forever..

Same. Both my drives are lite-on. Not one problem yet.

agreed. we have 4 of them for our media specialists at work. they're great drives. prompted me to buy one for myself and one for my brother. absolutely no regrets.

got a nec3500a here and love it, my other choice would be the pioneer DVR-109

Got the NEC 3510 here. Great drive, no problems.
The 3520 is out now, and last week, Newegg was selling it for I think $53.

i use TDK optical drives exclusively. never had a problem with them, either.
