Jet Li's Fearless: 6.5/10 Good. Very little cgi and wirework...a big plus for me.

Flags of our Fathers: 5.5/10 There were some nice bits (dramatically and visually) but it really didn't connect with me. It felt unfocused, and just too vast in its ambitions. I love Clint Eastwood as a director...but this one was one of his weaker efforts IMO.

I wonder if the companion piece (Letters from Iwo Jima) is any better?

Hmmm.
Although I liked this movie, with its refreshingly pacifist undertone, the obvious CGI and wirework would be *exactly* what turns me off.

Still an 8 out of 10, though.

What I most recently watched is Children of Men.
Very impressive.
Especially the scene where they get ambushed with the burning car rolling down sticks out for me.
All done in one very long shot, where the camera goes everywhere, and I still am wondering if they really pulled that off in one shot.
Also the scene where all fighting parties come to a halt and awe over the newborn was very impressive.

9/10

(Having Michael Caine in your movie seems to be a guarantee for quality these days)

Does the title of the movie have some sort of symbolic meaning? E.g. main character dies at 2:37.

Hannibal Rising, not bad, but not great either. Starts of pretty well but then turns into a gore driven shit fest.
