hahaha. topgear hate yanks.
I've only watch the very beginning so far, but it looks good. I just wish Clarkson wouldn't complain about going to America so much when he only ever goes to the south or to California.Doombrain wrote:ok, i don't really hate yanks. in fact a have a few yank friends.
this weeks show is really laying into the south. i mean really bad.
I mean, Miami? Of course he'll have a terrible time if that's where he goes.

Still... looks like a good ep. :icon14:
I didn't think I was being overly critical.
I said it was a good ep.
I just said that Jeremy brings a lot of it on himself by focusing on the shittiest part of the country. I'm not offended by his views; I hate the goddamn south. I just think he wouldn't have such hostilities toward or from other areas.

i think i read your post in a different tone of voice :]
but that was the point of going to that area, i mean if they painted up the truck / cars and drove through san francisco im guessing they would get a totally different reaction ?
he does generalise, but thats him and he does it to everyone, everything and everywhere.... im surprised the germans / french havnt kicked up a fuss about him

I know, and that's what makes his crass humor enjoyable. I don't have a problem with him ripping on inbred rednecks -- he can do it as much as he likes and I'll support it. And of course when targeting a UK audience, that's going to be the funniest thing to watch.losCHUNK wrote:i think i read your post in a different tone of voice :]

I guess my problem is just that it seems to be the ONLY place he ever goes, and then he complains about it. It would be nice to seem them do some sort of review or race or challenge in a less backwards part of the country. Not necessarily to make us look better, but to make me feel better about my own country.

keke, i know he went to detroit once and praised it for being the birthplace of motown
i know where your coming from though, i really thought he was going to rip into wales, as in a "o no here we go", and when he done totally the opposite it gave me a smirk
i had a convo with somone on here i think about the size of a country, like if you drive 300km in europe you can visit a few different cultures and get a good feel. where in america, driving 300km is prolly like a trip to a shop

that episode was brilliant. :icon14:
personally i think it was done perfectly; they got the *real* america. NYC, Boston, Seattle, SF, and Chicago are islands of good, amid a giant sea of cheese smothered, rude shit. Given; mobile alabama is a terrifying extreme (i know i've been there), but the rest of the piece was pretty typical of 90% of the country. And the bit in new orleans is what really sells you on how absolutely fucking selfish and backward this place has become.
top notch program: 10/10
