cpma error

Post by CrinklyArse »

Haven't played cpma for a while, so thought I'd have a game.

Unfortunately, when attempting to join a server (through ASE) it loads up, then completely closes, leaving only the small blue console with the error:

Couldn't reopen C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3\pak0.pk3

I've tried having someone else send me their pak0.pk3 file, but it still doesn't work. I fear the only way to cure this would be full reinstall. Please prove me wrong. :(

Reinstall is probably going to be the fast route to a fix on this, since it's not a common error. One of the codeies might be able to give you an overview of what quake's *really* saying with this error, since it could be a file locking issue, or some more cryptic issue like a confused mash of game files trying to open the same file twice inside pak0, hard to say.

mebbe try renaming the quake folder to see if there's some kind of OS-level file locking going on...

Hmm, thanks regardless. Googled about a bit, seems most people ended up resorting to reinstalls. Might just go with the reinstall myself and save the hassle.
