What a coincidence to find this thread here. I just had a conversation about this with my gf this afternoon.
You'll never be forced to marry anyone obviously - but I think any girl with self respect is eventually going to force you to at least make a decision, and let her know if you're really serious.
I know I'm going to marry my gf, it's just a matter of timing and money. What we have is great, so I would be stupid not to.

a life commitment is a life commitment. you don't need a marriage license to have one. also, there are no benefits for men to get married, but there are for women.
and if i recall correctly, you live in Cali, which, if you break up after 10 years, you get to pay vaginamony. if you do wind up going the married route - prenup, prenup, prenup.

i wish they were required for a government recognized marriage, so the stigma could be lifted somewhat+JuggerNaut+ wrote:a life commitment is a life commitment. you don't need a marriage license to have one. also, there are no benefits for men to get married, but there are for women.

and you're quite right about the marriage ordeal being unnecessary, many are opting against it in longer term relationships and it's getting politicunts and religinuts all hot and bothered
i wish you well ek, but mind your long-term interests
