Losing control randomly
Losing control randomly
Basically, sometimes when I am on a server I suddenly lose control of my character for 1-2 seconds and I end up looking at the floor or ceiling. My fps and ping remains stable and the net graph smooth. It happens on most servers, some days I won't get it at all other times it will spaz out every 30 seconds. I think it's related to punkbuster, and seems to happen when people join/leave but I really have no idea. Any way to stop this happening?
Did you update punkbuster with pbsetup? http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
Also try these commands while in-game (after using pbsetup)
/pb_cl_enable
/pb_sleep 500
/pb_system 1 or 0 (depending on what it is set to currently)
Then to save these settings, type /pb_writecfg

I had a very similar problem a while ago, turns out that it was the mouse I was using that was causing the problem. Apparently, certain hardware inside mice are slightly buggy and have a tendancy to wig out in either direction randomly. The best way to get control back is to very slightly lift the mouse off the surface and then put it back down on it, this should stop it immediatly, but it still messes you up and leaves you looking at the ceiling.
The only perminent solution is to buy a new mouse. This article goes over a ton of mice from a scientific standpoint and at the end shows you what the best mice you can get (best mice period), and what the best deals are (best bang for your buck). According to the article, the absolute best mouse you can buy is an MX500 ($32.99) if you are willing to overclock your USB sample rate to 1000hz (which is a simple task, you dont need to open your case, all you need to do is boot windows in safe mode and run a program). If you dont want to modify your USB sample rate, then the MX518 ($39.99) gives the best performance overall, and the Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse 1.1 ($26.00) gives the best bang for your buck.
Personally, I like my MX1000 because it's wireless, but it's probably why I suck so bad. :P Hope this helps.
