Very Old CD-Key is being rejected by punkbuster i think.

dug out a copy of the game i brought years back when it first came out, updated to latest version game accepts CD-key no problem.
i then join a server and after a couple of minutes play i get an error either invalid cd key in pink writing or please wait while punkbuster updates (wich it never does have left on for a couple of hours waiting). am i doing something wrong? do i have to update punkbuster manually?

You should update pb manually with pbsetup (you can run this tool anywhere) http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Here are some useful commands to get pb working in tip shape

/pb_cl_enable (just to make sure it's enabled)
/pb_sleep 500
/pb_writeconfig (this will save the settings)

If you ever suspect pb is crashing your game you might want to try /pb_system 1 or 0
