Re. HDR's..that is a prime candidate for it(indoor scenes with window showing outside). My cam is nice in that you can bracket up to 9 frames.

You don't need HDR for that, you just need to wait for some sun

Edit: or use something with wide exposure latitude like 400H or tri-x

I was spending about $100 a month on ink for my old printer because the carts were so small. The carts in this printer a 10x larger and the printer has well over a liter of ink it. The old one had about 100mL.
I would have bought an Epson, but the 3800 doesn't do roll media, the 4800 doesn't have a cutter and switching between matte and photo black ink costs a hell of a lot of money (on the 4800). I think Canon pulled off a coup with this printer...

The 4800 does have a cutter and it costs about £6 to change over.
I was looking at this at focus and I have to be honest mate, it doesn't hold a canal to the K3 system.

I dunno man... these guys here say it costs about $68 to switch between gloss, matte and back to gloss.

I think they're full of shit, but it's not the first time I've heard anyone mention that either. 10 bucks or 70 bucks, if you do it often, you're wasting a lot of money. I don't know why I thought the 4800 didn't have a cutter. I must have been thinking about the 2400... The 3800 is a good idea, but for roughly the same price in the US, Canon has the 3800 beat handily. If the 4800 were cheaper, it might be a closer match, but you can't ignore the $600 price differential (after the $500 instant rebate Canon has offered all most non-stop since they released the printer).

that's rubbish. i've given up with those sites, i'm always getting emails from these kind of sites after info. no matter what you tell them, they just keep posting bullshit.

The Alpes mountains barely got any snow this year and with high temperatures all through the winter it fucking sucks for skiing and boarding. I went to Innsbruck for a few days because I had a locoregional anesthesia course, not for snowboarding thank god.

In 3 weeks I'm going to Austria again for some real wintersport. I'm turning to islam if that makes it snowing :icon23:

thanks.....inspiration and good lighting is what a photographer needs.

Shot these two pics a few weeks ago. It was cloudy and gray all day, but suddenly the sun came through the clouds for a few minutes. The colour was great for a few pics before it turned dull and gray again.

heh, I searched for doombrain @ flickr and I found your account with a measly amount of photos (5 or something)

I went pro last year, I think it was upgraded quite quickly after they got the credit card check. Flickr is great to play around with your photos and getting some inspiration from others.

daev, just curious about your new hassey...how much did you spend and where did you buy it? What lens did you get with it?

There's a 503CX w/80mm F2.8 in mint cond for $1k that I'm milling over. Might get it before going back to Canada.

It's a 501CM with a CFE 50 f/4. I got the 50 instead of the 80 because I use 24-28 in 35 a lot more than 50
