Official Talent Contest Thread

Post by bitWISE »

Submission Deadline: Friday, April 13th at 11:59 EST

Submission Guidelines: To submit a file send me a PM for FTP access to my web server.

Before uploading, please be sure to utilize a decent amount of compression on your videos and jpegs. Also, try to use a standard video format such as WMV or Divx. If you're uploading a program, please zip the entire folder or build a single-file installer. When you upload, make sure to label the file with your username and just add numbers to each additional file (bitwise.mp3, bitwise2.mp3).

Contest Guidelines: This contest is about being creative, having fun, and sharing your talent with the community. Feel free to write a song, write a story, sing, play an instrument, create some artwork, juggle, dance, create a fun little computer game, or anything else that requires a bit of talent or creativity. Before making the submissions public I will be disabling the FTP login and screening each file so please don't waste my time with gay porn or a video of you taking a shit...

Categories: These will depend on what is submitted but there are several starting categories you can win already. Currently no rewards are planned but perhaps we could bring back the "Co-Driving Champion" style avatars.
1) Best overall submission
2) Most comedic submission
3) Best serious submission
4) Worst submission

Judging: The contest will be judged by all members of Q3W. Judging will take place the week following the 13th and no votes will be accepted after April 20th at 11:59 EST. Voting will take place in separate thread that will be created on April 14th, containing a link and description for each submission.

Sign Ups: Sign up by replying to this thread with an general description of what you plan to do. Please keep this thread clean and make any unnecassary posts in here.

I will probably be refining these rules as the contest progresses or things need to be clarified.

I will be attempting to play a popular song on my guitar. Which song I choose will depend on how much my skill level improves over the next few weeks.

I was going to say new material only but fuck it, go ahead and post it. Perhaps you could replay it and see how much better you've gotten?

ok. The car has no gas, and I think it has an old glow plug so I'll get some new stuff for it. The glow plug igniter and radio batteries are being charged right now. I need to clean up all the dirt on it, but it should still work.

I better go to work right now and solder the antenna back together. it is twisted to itself right now :D

if I knew about this around 3 weeks ago I would have taken a video of a 6inch clay person I made of a 70 year old cupid all weatherd out and abandoned crouching over with a suspicious look at something behind him...his wings are all chopped up and his limbs are mangled. It was my first attempt at making a sculpture...pretty cool too as I first made the muscles and then dressed it with skin.

my fucking dog got to it and raped it pretty good, now it looks more like a ancient discovery put together from 30 diff. pieces.

I would attempt to make another but I'm thinking this clay I chose is not the best for this, it's very difficult to put fine detail on a substance so britle

a whole SONG improvised? or a solo? i mean, that's some serious talent if you can compose a a whole song spontaneously.

A song, yeah. It's not a very complex song, but I think it's a pretty neat little ditty. I just laid down a repeating drum track, improvised some rhythm tracks, then solo'd over top of it.
