3D Screenshots (Panoramas)

Post by Method »

I added 3D screenshots (360 degree panoramas) to two maps that I designed for Quake 4 - City Heat and Mash-Up Streets. Check it out here:

They're too small and don't work perfectly - I'd ditch them.

Corsair: The sizeing was fixed. Apparently FireFox looks at different parameters than IE.

Nice. Feels almost like being in the game and leaves a feeling of wanting to pump out a rocket or two.

Cool, more people should definitely do this to present new maps... I'll learn how to and start doing this, that's for sure!

To do so you need to use a program such as GoCubic. Download it for free here:

http://www.panoguide.com/code/Gocubic.zip

Load Q4 with resolution of 640x480 and then you can use "envshot" command. Here's an example:

Code: Select all

envshot [name] [resolution] [blend]

envshot meth1 1280 4

is this possible with q3? I realize I could probably take 6 screenshots (1 in each direction) and apply them, unless of course Gocubic works differently than I'm assuming... blah I'll just take a look and figure it out, thank you though

Since the envshot keyword is unknown within the console I doubt that it works in q3. Maybe you can take those shots by hand, but I don't know the specs for them at all. Can someone post some envshots which q4 produces? Haven't installed it atm.

What envshot produces is 6 shots that if applied on a cube fit perfectly. It's VERY hard to do so by yourself. Here's a tutorial using digital camera:

There was a mod for Q3 that took cube maps for you. Forgot the name of the mod though, but I'm sure you can still find it with a bit of searching.

Perhaps the Skybox mod will provide me with what I'm looking for?

I have that already, thanks. That's what I was talking about in my previous post. Didn't get the chance to check though as my mouse died right before I posted that... nice and charged up now though.

I've successfully (sorta) made two of these, but I don't really have a place to upload them to.
