This man can play. I have a DVD of him and it's amazing.
Check out some of his stuff on YouTube. Here's a video I'm particularly fond of:

He's fooling around at the beginning here, but picks up at about 2:40 or so.

Is the secret to fingerstyle that you strum the strings on both ends of the guitar?
This is about all i know of guitar:
there are 5 or 6 strings, with diff tensions/densities.
On the skinny side of the guitar, the left hand presses down at various positions to change the length of the string, and the right hand strums the string.
So what's unique about fingerstyle? It seems like there are 2 guitars playing...

its not so much about strumming with both hands although great players can do so very easy. fingerstyle is more about your picking hand. your thumb and index finger are used to create the bass parts while the other three make the "voice". and people who are good at it can also play a third part by making a harmony between the two.[xeno]Julios wrote:interesting - i don't know anything about guitars - i only learned what rhythm guitar meant a little while ago while watching a friend play in his band.Maiden wrote:well, thats the point of fingerstyle guitar. if your interested there is this workshop video where this guy plays and then explains what he is doing and why...its pretty cool.[xeno]Julios wrote:fucking hell...
