Congratz Nightshade. Good to see things going well for you. But what the hell's up with that weak workstation. :icon25:

Not much. Stumbled onto an article about that new quake online game, And thought about this old place. I see it's still up which is amazing. Figured I'd congratulate NS on his employment opportunity and got slaughtered old school. :icon23:

Pretty cool man. Shit has been turbulent on the career front. Left myjob as a Network admin to go work at a bank as Network engineer. Big pay raise... better network. Then that bank got sold... :icon23:

Found another job before the bank could lay me off though. Cool company... Citrix Metaframe and Windows server hosting and intergration. Solid pay... But they kept me hopping Somehow I managed to get Cisco and Citrix certifications along the way. Put my gaming time in the terlet. Worked there for 9 months. Just as things were slowing down a bit the VP of I.T. at the first company called me up and offered me a management position back at the first company.

I liked the guy but I was gonna tell him to forget it. The old shop was Novell Netware.... I like pure active directory managed networks. But when he said manage he meant all but complete control. And a massive pay raise. So here I am... Asisstant Vice President.... I'm about to upgrade the current platform to Server 2003, and I'm putting together a project to migrate our mail system to Exchange.

I have a pretty nice budget to work with and a boss that trusts my judgement. Plus I kinda set my own hours. You should see the freaking sweet File server cluster I just set up. Redundant DFS Trees. Damn I'm a nerd.

Well, it was supposed to be an electrical design engineer job for a system integrator. The company makes automated manufacturing systems, and as it was a step up from my old technician job I was really excited about it. First engineering job after graduation (which was December, BSEE with a 3.67GPA babee!), and all that. Eventually it will turn into lots of PLC programming, Autocad drawing, component specification, etc., etc. Right now I'm just doing more technician work, setting up, testing, and debugging a multiple build of the same machine. Been doing it for 7 months and it sucks much ass.
Refer to this thread for my current situation: http://quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29776

Sounds like you've done very well for yourself. Congratulations.

Nastycar eh? The company you work for isn't all that important, as long as you're doing what you love. You broke yer ass getting that degree and now you're working in the field you trained for. That's what counts.
