it just started making these grinding noises when i plugged it into my computer... and then it wouldn't show up on my desktop. sigh. so i tried and tried... and it still didn't work. and then i just hit it against the wall like 5 times. and then it worked..

now what.

i'm so broke right now too.

You'd better get all your shit off of it, pronto. Burn it to a cd if you have to, until you can get another drive.

If it's making grinding noises, death is imminent.

In fact, I'd go ahead and burn the important stuff off of it before you try to restart your computer again.

i would agree with Grag, spinrite may give you a little more life our of it, but Def backup your stuff before it goes.. your heads are fucking themselfs.
