iTunes: Gay or Incredibly gay?
So anyways, I know everyone preaches the virtue of anapod and the like, but I don't use iTunes enough to care about it as long as it works. All I do is put music and podcasts on my iPod and rarely make a playlist.
Well, it's stopped working. I was trying to get rid of podcasts I'd already listened to, and an episode of FormulaPod kept getting put back on. I deleted the podcast entirely from the iPod, and I still see it in iTunes, but it won't sync and put the newest episode on. As a matter of fact, it won't put any new podcasts on now. I tried it with the version of iTunes I was using, as well as with 7.1.1 after the 20 minutes it took to d/l and install. No luck. Tried re-subscribing to the podcast, didn't work. Tried subscribing to a MotoGP podcast I found, that won't work either. I've tried different sync options, All Unplayed, 1 Most Recent, etc., nothing works.
Am I looking at a complete uninstall/reinstall here? Shelling out the cash for anapod?

I've been using iTunes without any problems just because I haven't bothered with anything else. Easy to browse though large volumes of albums, so I haven't really a reason to switch other than a slight memory bloat.
I have Foobar2000 installed and you might want to give it a try. It requires far too much tweaking out of the box for me to use regularily, so I haven't bothered using it as my main audio player.

the original reason i installed itunes was because it automatically checks for and plays songs over a network. while i dont need that functionality anymore (even though i do at work), ive grown accustomed to the interface and the easy way of browsing through a large number of files and albums and therefore still use it

Yeah, but if you would read our posts, you would figure out that most people don't have problems with iTunes and whatever you did was probably an isolated incident where you did something you weren't supposed to.
Furthermore, we recommended that you try Foobar2000 and Winamp with whatever plugins you might need to transfer files to your iPod. There was another thread somewhere mentioning Anapod, which I haven't personally used.

The only problem I've ever had with iTunes is after upgrading to Vista when it refused to play my purchased music. It was an Apple issue though since the morons knew about the folder and registry security changes and had multiple betas and release candidates to address it with but instead they waited to patch it after the full release. Other than that, its been an excellent media player and outdoes any of the Windows Media versions IMO.

I think iTunes has gone downhill. It used to be really nice, but now it has become buggy for me. When in Party Shuffle when a song ends the computer will freeze sometimes, about 1/3 of the time, for 10 or more seconds. This is truly irritating if I am trying to write an essay and listen to music on my computer, or do anything while listening to music.

I've read more posts on this site about people having problems with iTunes than not.obsidian wrote:Yeah, but if you would read our posts, you would figure out that most people don't have problems with iTunes and whatever you did was probably an isolated incident where you did something you weren't supposed to.

Yes, one option is to switch programs. What I want to know is if anyone is familiar enough with the POS proggie to tell me what's going on with it.

thats because its more effective to complain that to praise, pragmatically speaking.
