Woot. Just ordered two BFG 7800 GTX cards.

thats a waist isn't it? cous if you gonna use them for games all the new ones will be directx10 which needs the 8 series? or can it also run on 6series and up now?

Well I have an ATI x700 right now so I really need the upgrade. I also want to go with a widescreen monitor so I need dual-link should I get a large one. I should still be able to play dx10 games, just not as nice. No company would ship a game that only works on the two latest video cards that cost around $500.

I'm going to SLI them for a bit to try it out but I'll probably sell the extra one to family/friend. I got the first one for $175 and then I was offered the second for $130 thanks to a dead-beat bidder.

oh last time i read about 8 series thats wat it said. it could just have been a ploy to make us buy 8 series but yep thats unrealistic

70 bucks biostar mobo (nothing special but it seemed to be the best performer in the price range

(I don't know if it's worth going with a 10,000rpm sata instead of a 7200)


I still enjoyed this purchase since I get at least double my frame performance in any game, compared to my old system, and that is a good jump in performance when it comes to upgrades IMO.

I think the new video card wasn't so much of a boost but the dual core amd and the faster ram is what must of did the big diff.
