Well, we did it.
Based on consumer reports, prices with incentives, features and resale values we bought a Hummer H3.
I almost had the wife talked into the Infinity G35, but she really wanted another SUV. She just can't stand the idea of driving I95 every day with all the nearly dead dipshits, in a smaller car.
We did get a sweet ride though. It's got leather, power everthing, kickass sound system, air bags everywhere and so much more. We're really happy with the purchase, which is all that matters.

Ugh. No offense, but that's some serious sheep mentality she's got going on there.YourGrandpa wrote:Well, we did it.

Yep. You're one of the guys I see on the interstate chugging a gallon every 8 miles, bouncing on the seat from the stiff suspension, riding in a massive off-road toy that isn't even built well enough to do real off-roading, to work every morning. i.e., a complete fucking idiot.YourGrandpa wrote:Yes, look at me I'm a big asshole.
Driving a Hummer.

What's even better is you bought it for a woman to drive. That's gonna turn out well. I mean, if she's one of those women who don't care about little things like comfort, economics, ease of driving, but instead just wants everybody she knows to see her in an expensive vehicle, she might even still love the thing after 6 months.

hummer
and if you're worried about safety there's plenty of other options. SUV does not equate to safety either.
case in point, look at subaru. their cars have consistantly been rated among the safest for years.

"Mommy, mommy, tell me about when you were a kid!"
"Ok pumpkin, when I was a child I used to live in Florida. Grandma och Grandpa lived in a little cute house there."
"In Florida, wow! Can we go and visit the house where Grandma and Grandpa used to live?"
"No, sorry sweetheart, we can't. You see, when I was a child, Florida was more than double the size it is now, but then your Grandpa decided to buy a huge, gas guzzling car with leather seats and electric everything, so the global warming accelerated, the polar caps melted, and more than half of Florida was submerged under water. So the house where I grew up, and where your Grandma and Grandpa used to live sits on the bottom of the ocean now."
"Oh no, mommy why did Grandpa be so stupid?"
"I don't know dear, I don't know."

Unfortunately, a common mindset. One of the main catalysts of everything wrong in the world.YourGrandpa wrote:We're really happy with the purchase, which is all that matters.
Hummer.

As for safety: I notice my little 2-seater has a better safety rating than that SUV. Oops. Well, at least it LOOKS like it's safe.
