new to AIM, halp
I can't seem to read the text I receive in AIM when I'm messaged, sometimes a window will slide up from the taskbar with a summary of said text, but no IM window. When I open one to chat, others can receive my messages but I cannot read their's even as I do hear the noise associated with received messages.
Is this common? I've upgraded my AIM to no avail.
TIA.

I've also tried both and prefer Gaim.
For those unaware, Gaim is now Pidgin.
Get the new version: http://pidgin.im/pidgin/home/

Pidgin is beating Miranda right now on features and looks, even with the Miranda-X or Miranda-Pack bundles. I've been trying them all over the past few weeks.dzjepp wrote:You should of at least tried miranda pack. Granted miranda is hard to configure to look nice but there are options where it's all done for you.
I've been using Miranda for a few years now, but I'm back on and sticking with Pidgin. Its better right now.
Yeah, I just installed Pidgin and have been surprised by the simplicity and ease of use. Came across a few kinks but I'll be sticking with it for now, at least until I get a shot at Trillian Astra. (I've pretty much fucked my install of miranda too much and would have to re-install completely to get it going again, which I don't feel like doing right now).
