Quake 3, Vista and FPS

Im in a real stitch with Vista and Q3. I can get the game to run but only get around 30fps while playing in a lan. The game becomes jerky and kinda unplayable.

Does anyone have similar problems? or know how to fix it?

So its good when you play single player or multiplayer? but lan only gives you a problem?

disable v-sync in video drivers?
