So LOST kinda finally got good again last night (SPOILERS)

Post by Fender »

Probably the biggest plot reveal we've had to date.

Anyone else still watching, or has everyone given up because it was boring and no questions were getting answered for a few months?

I've read that we can expect 5 deaths in the month of May. Since one has already happened (Locke's dad) we can expect four more.
Judging by what happened to Locke I'd say he's one of them (though I'm not convinced).
I think Sawyer is now doomed since his flashback arc is completely tied up now since he got his revenge.
I would also bet Ben will die and, if Locke survives his wound, will be usurped by Locke as the other's leader.

aye, locke wont die. I mean, his flashback arc is also tied up but he's too important to the whole mythology plotline. also, when claire was taken we didnt expect her to be seen again but she returned regardless. something tells me they're going to do the same with locke. probably (or.. hopefully) as the new Others' leader. cause he's the shit like that

I think killing off Sawyer just because his arc is complete would be a bit cheap.

Yeah after last weeks episode I thought "Maybe they just said it wasn't purgatory because they never thought people would catch on so fast. If this isn't purgatory, I don't know what is."

Yeah, yeah, it's all red herrings and whatnot, but airplane crashing, falling out of a helicopter, being in a car crash, getting lost with a sailboat, surviving gas attacks, ... all that seems to lead straight to the island.

true. however, since the show is due another 3 seasons, they wouldnt give it up in season 3. also, "zomg hell" (or purgatory) is just too easy, and a lot of it just wouldnt add up.

i'd be seriously disappointed if it were to be just dead people on their way to the afterlife. would ruin the whole hanso viral marketing campaign, too

:) i meant giving the jig up. especially in such a seemingly obvious red herring way through Cooper

True, the fact that he spelled it out is pretty much the only thing that convinced me that it can't be purgatory.

well ~ i think locke can't reach full myth status without dying first, right?

What do you mean. As opposed to what?

Killing a character off as soon as their character arc is complete is the appropriate time for them to exit the story. Such is literary convention.

My obligatory "out there" theory is that its the Garden of Eden.
Forbidden knowledge, no babies allowed, slithering snake monster thingy, etc.

Perhaps Dharma discovered the location of the Garden of Eden and wanted to harness its powers through science.

Sawyer's a funny character though and they keep enough other people around who just seem to fuck around all day without any real arc of their own. Sayyid, Charlie, the Koreans... yeah they all have their stories, but they're all kinda meh.
That doesn't mean I think they're bad characters, I'm just saying it's not so much an "arc or death" thing.

I have no theories for Lost anymore. This episode combined everything like every genre in sci/fi in one:

Time travel/ghosts/monsters/invisble man

Come one wtf, it's not fun anymore, if the wrighters say that they have a logical explanation for everything then they really gonna have to reveal something very soon before I stop watching it.
