Can't get point release 1.32 to work...

Post by aparoid_x »

I downloaded the installer for q3a point release 1.32, and when I open it, it doesn't do anything. :tear:

Am I missing something, or do I have to wait another 3 hours to download it again? :dork:

I'm fairly used to Q3A, but I just recently found out about Quake 3 World. :P

Edit: I downloaded it from a different source and it worked. I'll try it out after my potty break. :P

Okay, I installed but just now tested it. It didn't work, and the little blue-and-yellow startup dialog read the following:

don't mind the "failed to load dll" thing, that's not an error. but, the OpenGL error looks like it's broken. do you have the latest driver for your video card?

Uh... no idea. How would I go about finding if I do or not?

read the first line in his error log.
"Q3 1.11"
Be sure to do the 1.32 update before the 1.32a or whatever it is.

Considering the 1.32c patch is only half a megabyte, I'm relatively sure he has the 1.32 pr as he said it took hours to dl.

edit: It didn't update properly. Try reinstalling the patch and make sure it points to the correct folder. Also, is it a legit version? Or alternately, did you install a no cd patch?

Yeah, I have a no cd crack with it.

Just uninstall, reinstall from the cd and install the 1.32 pr without the nocd crack. Which hasn't been necessary for some time now.

As Kammesennin & Scourge have pointed out.

You are still running Quake3 version 1.11

When you installed the 1.32 point release. It wasn't installed in the correct folder.

You'll get it eventually though. Hehehe. ;)

One thing though. Before you go un-installing Q3. Find the 1.32 Point Release you downloaded.
Run the patch and make sure you are installing the patch in the correct folder.
See if Q3 works then?
If it doesn't try starting over. Un-installing Q3 all-together and then
starting fresh.

Actually that might just be the case. I remember I installed Q3A in C:\Program Files\quake iii arena not "...\Quake III Arena". That might just make a difference. :P

Thanks; I'll try it.

Edit: Yeah, no dice. I'll just re-install it.

Edit 2: I re-installed it, and it works great! Thanks for your help!
