Quake 3 dedicated server help.

Post by Lollin' »

First of all, I had an old account... But for some reason I can't log back in.

Now onto Quake 3:

1. When ever someone tries to join my dedicated server, they get "Invalid CD Key". I believe it is on the server's part, yes. But I DO have a valid cd key.

2. I only get like 20 servers out of the "500/X" it assumes I have.

On the first question... Yes, I am behind a router, but I do have all of the ports forwarded.

Help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Yes, I do know about ASE. I guess I should use that more often.

Yes it was a pure server. I tried changing it and no good.

Don't know what's wrong with it.

if people are trying to join and are getting Invalid CD-key, then they are having issues with Authenticating There Cd-key's, it has nothing to do with your server.

I agree with Amidy.

Each individual copy of Quake III Arena has been issued an exclusive CD Key. A cdkey is only valid if you bought the game and have a cdkey on your cd-case.

Invalid CD Key errors may occur for a wide number of reasons. The most common causes of this error are configuration issues on the client (player) machine or problems with your connection to the id's Authentication Server.

I see. However, they say that they can join any other server fine. This may be a noob question, but there's something about registering your copy of Quake 3. Might this be the problem, since I have never registered it? (I doubt it.)

No Regestering your copy of Quake is optional and Not nessary to play the game.

Well can can you join any other server fine?

I did read above where you posted, But I DO have a valid cd key., I'm just going another route as it may seem here.

I'm no where near as experienced as the people already replying in
this thread. I'm just trying another approach is all. ;)

allways the modest PM...

The last suggestion that i could make Lollin' is simple, check the Log of the server ( the Window that runs with the server is up ) and see if its having issues connecting to the Validation server... That is a FAR shot, But these error's are Client side, not server.
