Firewire help

Post by Captain »

So I got a Panasonic PV-GS39 DV camera a week ago and while I love the cam, it didn't come with a firewire cable. Also, checking my Asus P5P800 SE mobo, I realized there is no 1394 IEEE port, although the case has one in the front.

So I'm basically looking for a firewire PCI card and a cable so I can import my clips into my computer for storage and editing. The cables are ridiculously overpriced.

Has anyone found good prices in TigerDirect, Best Buy, Futureshop, etc.?

EDIT: Here's what I found so far.

Would these work with my DV camera?

EDIT: Better card, comes with a cable

I haven't noticed much difference between Firewire PCI cards so long as it supports Firewire 400 and has a 6-pin connection (you can always go from 6 to 4 but not vice versa).

And it's not like you need 6 Firewire ports or whatever. I have 2 on my mobo and that's 1 more than I ever need.

I'd get the last one. Cheaper is good.

Aye, thanks. I'll call em up later and see if the TD near Sherway carries it. Can't beat the fact that it comes with the cable.

Yes, that precious two dollar cable that they seriously marked up at TD if you buy it separately. :p But yeah, good choice.
