I ordered a 12" Powerbook :D

12" 1,5 Ghz G4 PB with Superdrive and 768 megs of Ram.

Normal price: 1809 euros (2339 dollars, omfg)
With ADC discount: 1447 (1870 dollars)
+ 99 dollar membership fee: 1523 euros (1966 dollars)

That's 20 percent off :D
And the guy told me that I could purchase a Tiger update disc for 19,95 in case it would come out soon.

In the States you would pay $1567 for that system with NORMAL student discount (around 10 percent). And $1774 without any discount. $1420 with ADC discount, which is roughly 1099 euros.

It's not fair :tear: Dunno how much tax you would have to add though. My price would be all inclusive and 'free' shipping.

Tax would be around 8%, so with the ADC discount we would pay ~$1533.

Yep, the price differences you see between Europe and the US are mostly taxes. That's what you get for "free" hospitals and social security :-D

I guess that's the price :)

So, i'm joining the Mac club soon. Hopefully it won't take too long before they're gonna ship it.

Oh yeah, funny thing when I called the Apple Store they didn't even asked if I were going to develop anything. He just asked if had purchased an asset yet and what kind of Powerbook I wanted. Then he calculated the discount and placed the order for me.

Easy peasy.

Yeah, that happened for my student discount. I ordered my G5 and they never asked for a student number or the university. They just said they'd set me up with the discount and *poof* it came...

I guess you could technically do that for any order, but I'm assuming that if they found out you'd be in some shit...

I've a 12" 1ghz (Rev B) w/768mb (damn gig sticks are still too expensive). They really are lovely machines, easy to scratch tho, so be warned. Crumpler do a nice case for them (called the Gimp, lol) only £20 on Ebay.

I might have to cancel the order to preserve the money for a new appartment. Need a new washing machine, oven, new floor, paint, etc.

Not something I'm looking forward to buy, I'd rather buy a nerdy gadget I don't really need ;)

I'd go ahead and cancel it anyway, since tiger went gold on Friday and should be out for retail around the 15th. Reorder when Tiger is out, and you just saved ~$80
